ECHO School

Learn English all day

At ECHO Language School we offer exactly that – English All Day. We want our students to enjoy their English language learning and to practice as much English as possible. We are a small school and so we can offer a well-monitored residential environment from breakfast to bedtime. Also, all the bedrooms are close to the language school building, so students are in a safe, comfortable environment all the time, and can concentrate on building their language skills.

ECHO offers courses for young people aged from 12 to 20. We offer a full range of academic, social and sporting programmes. Students eat with each other and with the school staff. The maximum number in the school is 40 students; in the classrooms, the maximum is 8. Everyone makes friends quickly and easily. Everyone learns and speaks English all day.

Facilities

Students enjoy all-day access to great free facilities - including two large TV rooms with over 500 films, X Box 360, Wii, modern internet computer room, extensive book library and sports equipment. Free tea, coffee and snacks are available outside lessons, and there is a free laundry service for those staying over two weeks.

Classrooms

We have many years of experience with teenagers' English language courses. Everyone enjoys the comfortable ECHO school house, where the rooms for English classes feel like being in someone's home.

Teachers

All our Teachers are native English speakers and are widely experienced and qualified professionals, selected because of their ability to teach well and to interact with teenagers.

Security

Parents know their children on an ECHO English course are safe. ECHO is based in the lovely Victorian residential area of Hove, five minutes from the beach and sports complex, and a short bus ride from Brighton itself. We make sure that young people under 18 are well supervised and that in their free time we always know where they are.

Our system at work

Please note that ECHO is a school and not a summer camp. Of course we make sure our students have lots of fun while they are here, but it is our primary job to make sure everyone's English improves as much as possible. ECHO students keep coming back to us year after year because they know that this is where they can really improve their English.

Parents and students should therefore understand that we are a disciplined school. We have a forfeit system for those who, for example, break the 'English Only' rule. This begins with helping in the kitchen and later may include extra homework. Please be aware too that in extreme circumstances we have been forced to send home students who cannot work within the system.

It is very, very important to us that all our students enjoy themselves and also work together to help everyone improve both their English and their social skills. Parents often report that their children returning home are more “grown up” with increased confidence and independence.
